Foster PRIDE/Adopt PRIDE is a competency based 14-step program for the recruitment, preparation, assessment, selection and ongoing support of foster parents and adoptive parents. This special training opportunity will focus on the content and process of implementing the nine-session, 27 hour preservice training program as well as the process for guiding prospective foster and adoptive families through the mutual assessment and selection process.
This training for trainers will include a session-by-session review of the PRIDE trainer curriculum. The training is highly interactive, and includes opportunities for participants to deliver portions of the curriculum and receive feedback and coaching from the training facilitator. Participants who successfully complete the PRIDE training of trainers will be eligible to conduct PRIDE training within their agencies and to use the PRIDE assessment model in the decision-making selection and process and in preparing foster parent and adoption homestudy reports.
This training is for agency staff who train, assess, and select potential foster parents and adoptive parents, and for experienced foster parents and adoptive parents who serve as co-trainers for their agencies.
Florida now requires all certified PRIDE Leaders to also be certified as Child Welfare Professionals by completing Florida's Child Protection pre-service training and assessment before they can lead a PRIDE training with foster and adoptive parents.
New Florida Requirements: As per the Department of Children Families' interpretation of Florida Administrative Code 65C-13: "Before leading PRIDE training with foster and adoptive parents you must be certified as a child welfare professional. If you are currently a certified PRIDE leader but have not been certified as a child welfare professional, you have until April 6, 2009 to be certified. Leading PRIDE parent training is to be suspended until both certifications are obtained."
