Critical Thinking and the Dynamics of Abuse

One day training (6 hours)

The ambiguity of assessment data often presents a challenge to anyone working in child welfare.  This training is designed to assist you in managing this ambiguity by providing information regarding known causal relationships between family dynamics and abuse/neglect. A practice case is used to apply these concepts and sharpen your skills by developing a more thorough comprehension of the steps required in critical thinking and assessment tasks.

By completing this training you will be able to:

  • Identify specific family dynamics associated with abuse and neglect
  • Use questioning techniques related to those specified family dynamics
  • Demonstrate case presentation skills
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills by providing supporting arguments for taking case specific positions related to level of risk
